Shoe Budget is a small, independent publication about buying good footwear without overspending.

What we do

Most shoe content online is either a brand's own marketing or a list of "best" products that changes whenever a commission rate does. We wanted something more useful: plain-English guides that help you make a better decision whatever you end up buying. That means covering the unglamorous parts of buying shoes, such as how to measure your feet, why sizes differ between brands, when prices genuinely drop, how to tell a counterfeit listing from a real one, and how to make a pair last.

How we write our guides

  • We explain the reasoning. Instead of telling you to buy a specific shoe, we explain what to look for so you can judge any shoe yourself.
  • We do not invent testing. We will never claim to have lab-tested or run hundreds of miles in a shoe we have not. Where we describe a product, we describe what it is and who it suits, based on the manufacturer's specifications and widely known characteristics of the model.
  • We do not publish fake numbers. No made-up prices, discount percentages or star ratings. Prices change daily, so we send you to the retailer to check the current one.
  • We keep health advice in its lane. Footwear can affect comfort, but we are not doctors. Where pain or injury is involved we say so and recommend a podiatrist or physician.
  • We update and correct. Every guide shows when it was published or last updated. If you spot an error, email us and we will fix it.

How the site is funded

Shoe Budget is free to read. We earn money in two ways: from advertising shown on the site, and from affiliate commissions when you buy something through some of our links (for example, as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases). Commissions never change the price you pay, and they do not decide what we recommend. Our budget picks list is intentionally short, and we include trade-offs for every item.
